As one of the leading contemporary realist artists, John Forrest has exhibited in both major Australian and international galleries, and has recently spent time as a senior lecturer in Visual Arts at Deakin University.

Forrest’s works often sit between reality and fantasy, a realistic depiction with fantastical elements. Forrest’s irreverent exploration of Hollywood iconography is at once familiar while still threatening and strange. He speaks with wry humour employing an always impressive realism, a powerful juxtaposition of imagery and an ability to weave emotional, political, psychological and oneiric truths invisibly into the fabric of his art (1).
