Artist Statement

This work depicts the bones of horse, bullock and camel, found close to my hometown of Mimili on the APY Lands. By reawakening the bone of the past and giving them new life in this work, I am stirring a chapter in Anangu history that began when white man set foot in Central Australia. With the invasion of our land came the feral beasts, destroying the land, the water, the food and our way of life. With this physical destruction also came a mental and cultural challenge of belief, The Bible. These events cannot be judged as good or evil, for they are not ours to judge. These events have happened and this work aims to stir the bones back to life.’
