Best known for his colonial history landscape paintings, David Boyd was born into the famed Boyd art dynasty. The Boyd family is known for their artistic and musicals talents and produced a number of acclaimed figures in the Australian art scene. His works can be identified by wavy imagery and textured brushstrokes. Boyd’s painting career commenced in the 1950s with works related to the history Aboriginal Tasmanians in Australian. He later relocated to Europe to travel, where he spent over a decade. Today, the artist’s works are in the collections of the Queensland Art Gallery in Brisbane, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, the Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth, and the Art Gallery of South Australia in Adelaide, among others.
