Under the weeping willow, 2009, Glenn Sloggett

Chromogenic print, 80cm x 80cm
Provenance: Monash Gallery of Art, Melbourne.

Glenn Sloggett’s preferred photography subject is ordinary suburban environments. He utilises this unconventional and overlooked world to explore the major themes of life and death in modern society. Sloggett’s photographs are absent of all people, instead the neglected and unloved world around us. In 2008, he won the prestigious Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Photography Award, and won the inaugural John and Margaret Baker Memorial Fellowship for an Emerging Artist in 2001 (1).
