Matt R. Martin is based in Melbourne and his work stems from his love and passion for life drawing. He trained in life drawing as a young man before studying graphic art. He is heavily influenced by film, representational art, and surrealism, and he explores the capability of human form for expression beyond words. Martin paints not only human postures, but the orientation of form which forces the viewer to consider the body. Martin’s artworks reflect his ethos regarding figurative art as timeless, aiming to forge an emotional connection between artist and viewer (1).
