Marco Eychenne was born in Lyon, France. In 1995, he was awarded a Masters in Fine Arts from the renowned Ecole National Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. Eychenne moved to Australia in 2001 and is currently based in Brisbane. His works are literally pieced together from hundreds of photographic fragments, to create rich, layered and fractured photomontages.
Artist Statement
‘My art occupies a space somewhere between, yet somehow beyond pinning and photography. This process engenders significant philosophical enquiry. Photography is no longer the end expression. The photographic process is exploited in my work as a raw material in a new creative course.’ (1).
